South Africa World Cup 2010

World Cup 2010 in South Africa was fantastic. The transport between the host cities wasn’t great but the actual stadiums themselves were amazing. Johannesburg is still very dangerous and not a great place to hang around but Durban and Cape Town are nice cities with good nightlife! All in all an amazing trip in which we got to see 4 World Cup matches live, the atmosphere was amazing!

Swaziland

Mbabane the capital of Swaziland is a bit of a dump and best worth avoiding! Whilst driving around the country we had to avoid stray animals in the road which made for an interesting road trip!!

Lesotho

The mountain ranges of Lesotho are unbelievable and the scenery at 3000 metres is spectacular. It’s a bit of a shock coming from the tropical climate of Durban to freezing temperatures and snow though! We even managed to have a beer in the highest pub in Africa!

Kenya

Nairobi itself isn’t the most amazing place in the world but the wildlife outside the city is worth seeing…….. Crime is rife, not a great place for an evening stroll!!

South Korea

Seoul is like many other Asian cities 24/7. A visit to the DMZ which is the border between North and South Korea is fascinating and serves to highlight how divided the country is at the moment. We resisted the temptation to try the famous Korean dog however we did have some hot dogs on the street which was good enough for me!

China, Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Rugby Sevens is one of the best events I have ever been to and well worth repeating! There’s a real buzz to Hong Kong and Lan Kwai Fong street on a Friday night is legendary!

Myanmar

Myanmar has one of the most brutal military dictatorships in the world and it shows. The people are incredibly poor, the streets are dirty and the smells pretty unpleasant. It’s country 100 but not a place I’ll return to in a hurry!
